Gua Sha
Gua- means to scrape, or rub. Sha is the result from this, the red rash like pattern (petechiae) that arises on the skin. This myofascial release technique is similar to cupping in that it brings blood stagnation from the subcutaneous tissue to the surface. This relieves:
- Acute and chronic pain,
- Reduces inflammation,
- Common cold, flu, and bronchitis.
- Detoxify the body
After oil is applied to the skin long or short strokes are made along the body with the Gua Sha tool (I use jade and copper). After treatment the patient usually feels an immediate release or change, especially when pain was present.
